This week’s tune means something to me on two fronts. Firstly, I had my first face-to-face confrontation with writer’s block. In fact, by Day 5, I had nothing more than a little piano lick and the opening verse line. And I was completely stumped. This is the first time I truly felt like I “had run out of ideas”, and it’s only week four! However, I managed to power through it, and actually come up with something, I think, decent.
The second reason this tune has meaning to me is the subject matter.

great song man! under pressure I’d say you did pretty well with this one. mutt lange all the way! keep it up man only 26 more weeks.
next texture, nice wibbly solo. would love to hear some of dale’s guitar kick in somewhere in there. would also be interested to hear a female voice worked in - maybe a harmony a la Deacon Blue? or maybe not. great great start. can’t wait to see where it ends up.
Hey Dale! Ya hear that? You’ve got a fan in LA that wants to hear more of you. Better give the people what they want, RM (nickname: Renaissance Man).
I get a heap of toasty contentment listening to the light, fresh drift of the music. The story is okay…but is it a match? I would do some serious headscratching for a lighter tale. THIS COULD BE A DANDY, Elster.
Hey i like that one “What are the Odds”
I think it has potential
Good tune good words….simple
Worth working on I think
Nice vibe. good tune.
And yes, I’d be more than happy to contribute some guitar to it at some point if you want. (btw, thanks Doug)
my favourite so far!
Wow. This song really struck a chord with me. The lyric has such beauty and power: “Take a look at our cupboard, it’s getting so scattered and bare, Beginning to wonder just how do we compare?”
Nice work, and my favourite for sure, you artistic wonder-boy, you!
Suzanne.
Impressive. Actually, more than impressive. My favorite by far. Shades of Emerson, Lake and Palmer in there. That’s one I would definitely crank-up the volume up for when I’ve driving. Don’t know how to describe it I think you broke through a barrier on this one. Feels like you’re talking directly to me in this one. Real-life.
Cheers, Randy
Eliot - I really like this song. James was right when he said I would like this one. I would like it on my Eliot CD that I listen to all the time in the car. I am looking forward to the album when it is done. From one of your biggest fans.
good one, El. i find it surprising that you put this together at the last minute. i continue to enjoy your images: “paint the window closed…dirty street below” and then “one look in your eyes brings me back to life”. real, easy-to-relate-to themes/content. and good question, man: “what are the odds?”!!!
i also liked the “wibbly” solo - a lot! (even if i don’t know what a “wibbly” is…
could use a female somewhere in the background… I liked it… great driving song.

I liked this one, El. Definitely connected with the lyrics - maybe you work best under pressure? Looking forward to more like this…
My favourite too! I wasn’t sure when I first heard the wiggly harpsichord thing the first time around but it grew on me throughout the song. I found myself wanting to hear it again one more time before the song ended. There you have it El…you left your listener wanting!
I don’t know what it is about this song, but I like it…I think I like it the best so far in your 30 week challenge!
YUP! Tweek it a bit but good one.
