Alright, it was time to get out of the introspective mode this week. This song was inspired by an expression in the movie, “The Weatherman”. Michael Cain’s character says to Nick Cage’s, “The right thing to do and the easy thing are never the same”. That line has stuck with me for a long time. And it’s true, the easy way always does seem like a compromise or a shortcut for some reason.

War is not funny…it’s about intensity. If you’re going to do a song about war you have to go to the farthest reaches of the emotional spectrum…either stirring patriotism, or absolute despair….or both.
This is however, a political song. Politics can be funny, but this song is not. It’s a song about a pathetic man overwhelmed by events, who reacts badly with disasterous results. He sucked…this song is a little better than that…I gave it a 3.

I like it. Maybe being stuck in the prairies for 14 years has let my hee-haw guard down. I thought it was a light-hearted foot-tappin parody of someone who needs to be made fun of. Not a huge political or anti-war statement but that’s OK too. The lyrics are easy and the song is too (hence the name!)
Fun song.
I like the harmonica. What did you do to get the full backing vocal harmony effect? Sounds great.

Hey Eliot,
I listened to a bunch of songs tonight and this one really stuck out for me.
I like the tempo, lyrics and of course the harmonica!
Cheers
