Here’s How the 30 Week Challenge Works:

1. Once a week on Monday, I’ll post a new tune on the site (in demo form). This song will have to conform to “The Rules” regarding originality, musicality and composition.

2. YOU are then invited to post your comments to this blog (yes, good, bad or even SCATHING!). The more input you have to share, the better. Because in the next step…

3. At the end of the whole 30 weeks, the best song from each month (according to your votes) get produced to a finished product. I’ll be inviting everybody with a musical inkling to help out by contributing their parts.

4. After the dust settles, the top 10 tracks will be available on CD or as a download from this site, iTunes, CD Baby and others for a nominal fee, with all the proceeds to be be donated entirely to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Plus, a live fundraising event will be held in Vancouver to kick off the CD release. Tell your friends!

The Rules

These are the rules. The rules are self-imposed, and can be changed at any time. I can’t see actually doing that, but hey, this is an experiment. Each week, I will come up with one song to post to the site, that must meet the following criteria:

1. Absolutely NO cover songs allowed.

2. Song must have at least a couple of verses and a chorus, arranged in a common form. You know, A-B-A-B-B…. Something like that.

3. Song must have lyrics. No instrumentals allowed.

4. Song must be substantially DIFFERENT than any others previously posted.

5. Each song must be 100% new. In other words, no rehashing old songs of mine from 1995…

That’s it!
