Here’s a definite departure from the Adult Contemporary songs that are right in my wheelhouse generally. I think some background is required: I loaded up my mp3 player with some seriously heavy stuff this week to give me a kick in the butt during the Vancouver Marathon. I knew I’d need all the tricks I could come up with this year. Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, etc. At around the 1/4 mark, the title, “Shut Up and Kiss Me” came to me, which I think definitely required a heavy treatment.
This week, making his third co-writing appearance of the challenge, in the blue shorts… Mr. James Lee! Thanks again pal. And thanks to Corry for coming through in the 11th hour (sorry to subject you to this “unclean” lyrical content, Corry)…

Your’e songs are awesome. I love them all. I look forward to Mondays to hear your new releases. Keep it up.
Emma
I love that this song is so different. It would keep the dance floor packed at any club, and since we are still young and hip in our own minds, we should go dancing soon to do some further research on this.
nice work elliot! infectious rythms and creative use of vocal tones. keep it up, you are on a role.
Okay, so it kills me having to wait to hear what your latest song is going to be each week, because it’s always a pleasant surprise when it arrives. But the surprise and enjoyment takes on a new meaning this week!! Shut Up and Kiss Me is a real rocker. Couldn’t stop moving my feet. (I think I might even be able to run a marathon listening to music like that)
Hey! This is cool! Totally different this time around - I have to go catch up on the last few weeks (I got a bit behind) But this one is awesome!
It takes a lot of gut to try new styles. I enjoy the weekly songs. Cheers!
Very different from what I have heard so far but I like the mix with Corry’s voice.(I am pretty sure the female isn’t James)Title is strong and to the point….suggestive is the word that was used this week to describe it. I think you are fully of surprises, enjoy what you do and this is a new sound that has your fans excited about your diversity.:)
It is quite a departure for sure this week. What impresses me most is how you worked with the material that I passed on to you and took off with it running. It has so many interesting parts throughout the song and the freshness of it makes it exciting. I am not one for giving accolades just for the sake of giving accolades but the collaboration has been more than I expected. You, sir, know how to ROCK! It is in your bones and it is undeniable. One side comment on the song, perhaps some more pulsating electric guitar throughout the verse might make it a heavier. I play it for my kids and they are digging it. P-O \oo/_
Yo James, when are we getting our “Card-Carrying Member of the Rock Brigade” t-shirts for you, me, Bennett and Aiden?
And by the way, “No, sir… YOU rock.”
Hot!Hot! Hot!…..what a sexy song!
GOOD STEAMY. CONCERT AND VIDEO ITEM. HIGH ON YOUR LIST OF ‘MUST DO ITS.’
TOY WITH THE IDEA OF HAMMING IT UP TOO. AND DRUMS!….I LUVS DRUMS.
YEAH! IMPRESSIVE, DUDE/S.
Great song, Eliot and James (and Corry). I am amazed at how you can take the melody? (raw material that James did) add lyrics and all the other cool effects to it and it becomes such a catchy song! Keep on rockin’!
El - I love that this one is different. I was ready for a bit of a departure from the rest. It’s cool, but somehow not my favourite.
Really enjoyed this one Eliot. It’s very creative and caught my ear right off. Me mind started to wander half way through though, could have been just me. Better/more percussion may help. You appealed to the closet pop fan in me - love me rock but have all Gwen’s and No Doubt’s CDs too. Very good.
Woah!! This one came out of left field! The Dance DJ’s should be all over this one. Cool and catchy effects all around. JT and Brit could sing this one together. They could use some positive publicity. I love your diversity with this song.
