Let’s Call it Even has been rolling around in my head unrecorded for a while. I quite like this one. The lyric is essentially about bad timing. Two people that should-oughta connect, just don’t because they’re both passing in opposite directions at that particular time in their life. I like the down-on-her-luck waitress-in-a-diner image, where she’s made a mess of things, and now doesn’t feel worthy of anybody’s attention.

Anyway, certainly not a Picasso this week, but there’s a touch of something sweet in there…

Thanks for listening… El.

The first harmony has too much - it felt like it was over done and the lyric lost its emotional content for me. There seemed to be three or four harmonies when just one would do. It kind of sounded like the Oak Ridge Boys - the classic wall of Eliots. Maybe in a personal song, too much of that detracts from what you might be trying to say. Other than that, it is another fine tune.

Thanks, Janna. You could have a point there. I loooove harmonies, so it’s possible I overdid it.

I love it. It has great easy and deep harmonies and follows a consistent pattern
I think the 2-3 line lyrics just before the break are weak and maybe not neccesary (too much fill)
    Just an opionion

You amaze me! Each week you put your heart out there and let us travel along with you on your journey. We share stories with you and you share your musical talents with us (and coffee) in an easy listening manner which is always heart felt.My favorite line is: Somebody traded her sunshine for drivin rain. As for the voice of reason sometimes it needs to take a break and enjoy life too. TY for the songs, keep it up! 11 more exciting weeks to go. We love the weekly hits:)

I like this song. It has heart and it goes somewhere. One of the best so far in my opinion.

We (Gene’s here too) like the easy going tempo. It is perfect for a laid back mood. The harmonica adds a great touch. The image of an hard done by waitress might be a little trite….how about an overworked IT analyst?

I do like this one and after 19 weeks now I am not sure which ones I like the best. I wish I could download them all
and put them on my ipod. You have done some great listening much over the past weeks. You are almost there.

    very eagles like…i like it.

So this waitress you’re referring to…the White Spot on King George???? I can’t believe she hit on you to. What a Triple O tramp.

Not a huge Eagles fan but I liked this one… a peaceful easy feeling. I liked the harmonies. Waiting for an instrumental and all I got was a wee bit of harmonica. I’d replace that with acoustic guitar solo (I hear my Godin nylon electric or maybe a 12string) and give it more space - just like the Eagles :-)
