And……. we’re back!

This song is serving a dual purpose this week. First and foremost, it’s the kick-off of the 30 Week Challenge again - part deux. I figured it should be the auditory equivalent of a kick in the ass. This one certainly is that! James Lee was “instrumental in the instrumentals” again.

Secondly, this is my entry to the Hockey Night in Canada theme song contest. As you may or may not know (if you live in Canada… you know), CBC is looking for a replacement to the HNIC opening theme. Apparently their license expired, and the original writer’s family was looking for a couple million to extend it. So now they’ve started a contest looking for entries from the public. So here’s mine.

To be frank, this probably isn’t what they’re looking for because in true CBC fashion, it’d need to be way more watered down to have a shot, I’m sure.

Enjoy!

Eliot.

It’s a tight and crisp rock song. We’re still looking for that wall of Marshalls sound which would help out but overall, it’s a solid effort that we’ll be hearing for the next 50 years!

“Good to have you back!” You got my foot tapping with this song. I liked the lyrics. It’s quite a step up from the original HNIC song but to borrow a line from Wayne’s world…”it’s a bit like Star Trek the Next Generation…in many ways superior but will still never be as recognized as the original!” If you do win the HNIC award maybe you will be as recognized in a generation. Good luck!

Real kick ass tune boys. Loved the solo. Any true hockey fan would relate to the words, although it’s a LONG way from the current theme song written soley for orchestration. But ya never know. My only critique was I a wee bit disappointed with the chorus - maybe a higher register would separate the sound from the verses?

Love it!! The start gives that sense of anticipation that much more is to come - and it does! I sure liked the solid rhythm guitar and how it’s synchronized with the snare. Vocals are very strong - as always. The guitar through out is terrific.
As a competitor on the HNIC competition, perhaps the song could be strengthened by more overt references to hockey earlier on in the song - just one or two.

Great tune…Liam said it was his favorite so far. But he’s a child.
