This week’s tune is a bit on the dark side. I was in NY last week, and for the first time stayed out in Newark, NJ – which is definitely the doormat of NY. Abandoned rail yards, factories, heavy industry everywhere, and steamy ponds of who-know’s-what littering the landscape. I hate to say it, but all the cliché’s about New Jersey couldn’t be more true, at least to my eyes.

Sorry in advance to anybody on my mailing list that is from or has connections to this place. I’m sure it’s not totally one-dimensionally bad! Plus, every big city has their gritty side, I know.

Anyway, Wasteland is one of my favourites so far, just on mood alone. What are your thoughts?

Cheers,

Eliot.

Loving it, the lyrics are great and the beats and instrumentals gave it great tone!

Your sustained metaphor can be carried to any city, any country. The relentlessness of the beat, drums home the message of inevitability, but Eliot, “dance with me” gives the listener a glimpse and a hope of better times. In these environmentally -sensitive times this song is just asking to be sung!! Bravo.

A terrific feel to this song. Everything fits for me, the lyrics, the melody, the beats, the dynamics. Great job!!
