Even though, in the words of Elvis Costello, “Talking about music is like dancing about architecture”, I still would love for you to chat with each other here about this project, the site itself, or music in general. How would you improve this to make it more fun and more inclusive? Your thoughts are not only welcome, but necessary and a big part of the whole process. Try to keep them constructive, if possible! I’m thick-skinned, but can be soft and squishy on the inside…

If you want to leave remarks about a certain song, please leave it in the comment space within that particular tune.

Oh contrare! This was the actual performance, but yeah, I did have to clean up a couple bad notes vocally after the fact.

I’m no Ashleigh Simpson though, don’t worry. I can shake my ass just as well as her, but that’s where the similarity ends…

    Eliot,

This is a fabulous concept. I play trumpet, trombone, and saxophone and would love to contribute when the winners are chosen. Will you be explaining how to post our performance (on an FTP site or something) when the time comes? I live in San Diego, but travel up and down the coast with my band. Perhaps we can meet sometime.

    All the best,
    Richard

You don’t want to bother anyone? Man, your new song is what I look forward to every week – that and Satellite Debris! I am totally awestruck by your talent – and you’re not a bad song writer / entertainer either. (Oh, the first reference was to your golf game, of course!)

I hope you don’t mind, I’ve passed your site along to my sisters in Winnipeg too.

did you miss a week or two??

    Hi Eliot,

Just a brief note to say that I think what you’re doing is really great. However, we have been away for nearly 3 weeks each in April and June, and had an unusually hectic May, so we haven’t been able to listen to many of your songs during those months. Will try to catch up as much as possible.

Hi Eliot. I never thought you’d make it this far. Not because you don’t have the drive or talent, but because I don’t believe in off the shelf creativity. It was Rod Stewart who said he doesn’t write songs because, the first line and diddy may come easy, it’s the sitting around the kitchen table and doing the other 99% of the song that requires discipline. You obviously have that discipline, and I’m amazed you’ve created some serious stuff in the process.

Here’s where the shit hits the fan. I have some really great stuff and every once in awhile another just pops out. I used to get so excited waiting to show my number one supporter. But she started telling the truth “it’s great honey, but you gotta get it out there.” I learned that the discipline around the kitchen table was nothing compared to the grunt of trying to get it out there. I think you need to stop, pick your favourite 2 or 3 songs, and spend that new found time getting it out there. When you make it big enough to afford to go back to devoting all your time to your passion again, remember who gave you this wise advice and see if he needs a helping hand :-)

How about working on a bunch of cool Beach Boy type tracks about hanging 10 by the old malt shop while betty lou waxes your board…if you know what I’m saying…

    Sincere Congratulations Eliot!
From the many things I witnessed at Sat. night’s Fundraiser Concert, it was a terrific success. I was delighted to see that several additional tables had to be set up for more seating as the crowd continued to fill the Hall. Your band members each showed remarkable talent, and seemed really comfortable with each other. Not always easy, when they’ve never played together previously. Including a couple of background vocalists always adds an extra touch of professionalism to a performance. It was a pleasure to watch you perform your songs, and you sent a msg that said you were so happy to be there. I was deeply moved by your presentation to your Mom. The honour in the gift was not lost on myself or the crowd. Your selfless gift of time and personal energy will no doubt be received in special regard by the Cdn Breast Cancer Foundation. I will enjoy listening to your CD for many years. Thank-you for a uniquely wonderful concert experience! Cindy Simpson
